POLICIES

CHECK IN AND OUT TIME

​

  • Check in time: 5:45 PM -6:15 PM.  No one should be on the property prior to 5:45 PM.

  • Check out time: 6:45 AM. (Depart Dorm by 6:30 AM and Shed Area by 6:45 AM).

  • All emergency women with children must be awake by 5:30 AM. This early wake-up time allows a 15-minute window for mothers and their children to prepare for breakfast.

  • Families should be out of bed by 5:45 AM and in the dining hall no later than 6:05 AM — no exceptions.

  • All remaining residents, including single women and men, must be awake by 5:45 AM and out of bed and ready for breakfast by 6:05 AM.

  • Breakfast is served from 5:45 AM – 6:15 AM.

  • Clients not checked in by 6:15 PM will not be allowed to check in. There will be no exceptions to this rule unless prior authorization to arrive late is received from Calvary Refuge Center Staff.

  • IF you are IN JAIL, HOSPITAL, OR HAVE A JOB - With proof- you may arrive no later than 8:30 PM.

  • IF YOU HAVE NO JOB OR PROOF OF THE ABOVE YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN.
    LATE ARRIVALS DO NOT RETURN!

  • Any instance of clients not leaving the facility by 6:45 AM will be written up and disciplinary action up to and including termination from the shelter will be implemented.

CHECK-IN PROCESS / CENTER POLICIES

  • Clients will need some form of picture identification to enter the program.

  • Clients are permitted to enter the facility through the rear of the building only.

  • Clients are assigned a bed number and given an I.D. card bearing that number during the intake process.

  • Bed numbers should not be changed without staff authorization under any circumstance.

  • Client I.D. cards must be presented to the check-in person each night.

  • Clients are NOT permitted to exit the facility after check-in.

  • Suitcases, purses, and overnight bags are not allowed in the facility.

  • Clients may take toiletry items, pajamas, one change of clothing, and reading material only in the dorm area.

  • After the client has completed the sign-in process if he or she has any medication(s) it must be secured in the staff office and will be dispensed at the following times:
    Morning: 6:15 AM - 6:30 AM
    Evening: 7:00 AM - 7:30 AM

  • No medication, prescription or over the counter, is allowed in the dorm area.

  • Clients who will be working late and cannot make the 5:45- 6:15 PM check-in time, must receive staff authorization for late arrival. Clients must submit a document on a company letterhead listing the day and time he or she will be working. Working clients will not be permitted to enter the building after 8:30 PM regardless of work hours.

  • Clients are only permitted to enter the storage shed during check-in time (5:45- 6:15 PM) and in the morning at 6:30 AM. Clients who need to check out before the scheduled time in the morning may not have access to the shed until the evening check-in hours.

  • All clients’ personal belongings must be stored in his or her assigned bin which matches the ID. Card. Under no circumstance should a client change his/her storage unit without staff authorization.

  • Clients must remove all personal belongings from the shed area when exiting the program. Items not taken will be discarded. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS.

LENGTH OF STAY

  • Length of stay at Calvary Refuge Center is limited to (21) twenty-one consecutive nights. Each night spent at the facility counts towards the total, including weekends and holidays.

  • Missing a night at the shelter will result in self-termination from the program. The only exception to this rule is when a client is hospitalized, or incarcerated, and proper documentation is provided.

  • Extensions to the 21-day limit will be granted for the following reasons only:Client provides move-in approval letter from apartment complex indicating move in date. Extensions cannot exceed 5 days if granted and a 72-hour notice must be given to the director for consideration.

  • Upon exiting the program clients cannot return to Calvary Refuge Center for at least six (6) months.

  • Clients who are terminated from the program for violating rules will not be allowed to return to Calvary Refuge Center under any circumstances.

CHORES

​

  • Clients are expected to perform assigned chores daily.

  • Evening and morning chores must be completed during the following time periods:
    Morning: 6:00 AM - 6:30 AM
    Evening: 7:15 PM - 7:45 PM

  • Clients are expected to make the bed assigned to them and clean the area surrounding their bed daily. Failure to do this could result in termination from the program.

MEALS

  • No outside food is permitted in the facility.

  • Meals will be served at the following times:
    Breakfast: 5:45 AM – 6:15 AM
    Lunch: Clients receive a sack lunch when exiting the facility in the morning.
    Dinner: 6:30 PM

  • Clients may request that a supper meal be saved if he or she is working late. Clients must request that a meal be saved the night before.If not, there is no guarantee that a meal will be saved.

  • Cell phones, pagers, and other electronic devices are not permitted in the dining hall.

CHILDREN

​

  • Parents must always be with their children. Children are not permitted on the property at any time without parental supervision.DFACS will be contacted immediately should this situation occur.

  • Corporal punishment of children is prohibited.Verbal communication is more effective. Clients interested in counseling or parenting classes may request information from Center staff.

  • Sexual abuse of children will not be tolerated and will be reported to DFACS immediately.

CONDUCT

  • Women will not be permitted in the men’s dorm area under any circumstance.

  • Men will not be permitted in women’s dorm area under any circumstances.

  • Physical contact between clients is prohibited.

  • Sleepwear and other revealing clothing are not permitted outside the dormitory area. Examples include blouses with low neckline, sheer garments, pants/outfits that reveal underclothing, or sleep wear.

  • Shoes should be worn in the dining hall.

  • DO NOT POST on any Social Media Platform (Facebook, Instagram, Snap-Chat, Tik-Tok, Next Door, etc.) any negative­ remarks regarding Calvary Refuge Center or Staff.  This will result in termination.  If you have a concern or complaint, please let the staff know,  and we will address it with you.

DORM AREA

​

  • All clients must shower nightly. Morning showers are not permitted. Personal hygiene is imperative. All showers must be completed by 9:00 PM.

  • No food is permitted in the dorm area. This includes snack foods such as chips, cookies, drinks, water.

  • Clients’ linens will be distributed upon entering the dorm area the day of entry. Clients will keep the same linen for the duration of their stay. There will be no extra linen provided, only one set per bed. Each bed has one pillow, blanket, and comforter. Please do not remove items from other beds. The bedding is for new clients. Pillowcases are to be used with pillows. Please do not place your clothes in pillowcases. You are issued one set of sheets to be used during your 21-day stay.

  • Towel exchange for Women and Families is Wednesday and Thursday for Men. There will be no sheet or blanket exchange for the duration of your stay.

  • All ironing must be completed by 9:00 PM.

  • In Order to prevent insect infestation, No Food, Bags, drinks, and strollers are allowed in the dorm.

  • Cell phones and electronic devices are not to be used after 9:00 PM or without headphones. NO Exceptions!

  • Only take in what you can carry, items such as what you will be sleeping in and what you will put on in the morning. All other items and extra bags should be left in the shed.

  • Remove all items from dormitory or rooms daily. Any personal belongings left behind will be removed from the dormitory and placed in a Container or Shopping Cart.

  • Please be advised that if you are leaving the property, you will need to take all your items with you. All items not removed from the property will be discarded. We do not hold personal items in the shed.

VIOLATIONS WHICH WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE TERMINATION

  • POSTING on any Social Media Platform (Facebook, Instagram, Snap-Chat, Tik-Tok, Next Door, etc.) any negative­ remarks regarding Calvary Refuge Center or Staff.  If you have a concern or complaint, please let the staff know, and we will address it with you.

  • Smoking is not permitted in the building. Calvary is a smoke-free environment.

  • Arguing, physical violence, abusive language, weapons, drugs, and alcohol are not permitted inside or outside the facility.

  • Sexual activity of any nature is prohibited.

  • Persons found tampering with another client’s or Calvary’s property in the dorm area, the shed area, or under the covered shed

  • Clients found tampering with fire equipment, exit doors, or facility keys.

  • Chores are assigned at check-in and must be completed by the time indicated. Persons neglecting to perform chores will receive a write-up. Client’s that receive two (2) write-ups will be terminated from the program.

  • Three write-ups for any reason will result in termination from the program.
